ORBIDENSE
Scientific Data Foundation

Data & Provenance

ORBIDENSE uses public and scientific environmental datasets and is being developed with explicit attention to provenance, resolution, temporal coverage, licensing and uncertainty.

Climate and weather

The platform uses climate and environmental information from established scientific and public data providers, with datasets selected according to the spatial and temporal requirements of each analysis.

Earth observation and geospatial data

Remote-sensing, land-cover, urban-form and population datasets can provide complementary information for analysing environmental exposure and spatial patterns.

Responsible interpretation

Different datasets measure different physical quantities and operate at different scales. ORBIDENSE therefore avoids treating satellite land-surface temperature, atmospheric temperature and human thermal exposure as interchangeable.
